POLAR EXPLORATION WITH BORGE OUSLAND (Ex Comex diver)

My old friend and colleague Børge Ousland is now regarded as the worlds greatest living Polar explorer. Børge an ex Comex diver gave up a life in the water in 1993 to take on a set of different challenges.

About Børge Ousland
Børge Ousland was born 31st of May 1962 in Oslo Norway.

"Børge Ousland, is arguably the most accomplished polar explorer alive!". (National Geographich Adventure, February 2006).

Ousland grew up on Nesodden outside Oslo. After high school he trained as a diver and worked from 1984 to 1993 as a saturation diver in the North Sea. In the period 1989 – 1991 Børge served his military service in the Norwegian Special Naval Forces.

THE GREAT POLAR JOURNEY - In the Footsteps of Nansen

Nansen and Johansen’s epic journey is one of the greatest and most dramatic in polar history, perhaps only equalled by Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to South Georgia. For the first time the story is told by someone who has followed in his footsteps. “A highlight in my career”, says Børge.

Starting from the North Pole and skiing south, Børge Ousland and Thomas Ulrich reached Frants Josef Land after one and a half months in the pack ice. On skis and in kayaks, they continued through this vast Russian archipelago, still following Nansen’s original route.

The story of this epic journey is told in Borges latest book. The Great Polar Journey.
